What can I do to keep my bones strong?



If you think you're at risk of having osteoporosis, talk to your doctor. Your doctor can assess if you're at risk for osteoporosis and whether prevention or treatment is required.

Talk to your doctor to make sure you're getting enough calcium and vitamin D in your diet. Your doctor may suggest that you take supplements if you are not getting enough calcium and/or vitamin D from food.

Regular weight bearing exercises can help strengthen your bones. Find an activity that you enjoy and do it on a regular basis.

Think about changes you can make around your home to help prevent falls that can result in a broken bone.
